Abstract
In 1992, Aprill and Bogduk reported that a rounded high-intensity zone was seen in the posterior part of the annulus fibrosus on T2-weighted images of at least one of the last intervertebral disks in 29% of 500 patients with low back pain. This image was correlated with Dallas st age 4 disk disease and with reproduction of the spontaneous pain durin g discography coupled with computed tomography. We report a case and d iscuss the value of this image.
