Abstract
This paper presents the analysis of a two-unit cold standby system in which the server appears and disappears from the system at random. The failure and repair times of each unit are assumed to be correlated an d their joint density is taken as a bivariate exponential. Using the r egenerative point technique, various reliability characteristics of in terest are obtained. Explicit results with uncorrelated failure and re pair times are obtained and verified in a particular case. The behavio urs of MTSF and other characteristics are also studied through graphs.
