Successful achievement of classroom objectives depends upon effective
interactions among teachers and students. Ideally, both teacher and st
udent experience satisfaction in the classroom. It is the teacher ulti
mately who has the major responsibility for creating a climate in the
classroom that will facilitate achievement of goals. One of the most v
aluable assets for the teacher wishing to motivate students to a high
Level of productivity is that of a trusting climate. Trust projects as
surance that things will go as expected within the realm of classroom
philosophies and procedures. The purpose of this article is to present
a trust inventory that will allow the teacher to assess the classroom
climate. An accurate account of students' perceptions about the class
room trust profile would indicate if maintenance of the status quo is
acceptable or if strategies are needed to build and foster positive tr
ust and reduce negative trust. The Trust Inventory Survey allows a clo
se Look at the classroom trust climate and provides a constructive eva
luation for identifying strong areas to be maintained and weak areas t
o be improved.
