The AIM, a questionnaire intended to measure affective intensity has,
to date, only been related to differences in self-reported intensity o
f emotional experience (Larsen & Diener, 1987). We investigated whethe
r it is also related to the intensity of facial expressions of emotion
shown by subjects after having been startled. Although the AIM was re
lated to some self-report measures of emotion, the AIM was not related
to post-startle facial expressions of emotion.
