P. Husek, LONG-CHAIN FATTY-ACIDS ESTERIFIED BY ACTION OF ALKYL CHLOROFORMATES AND ANALYZED BY CAPILLARY GAS-CHROMATOGRAPHY, Journal of chromatography. Biomedical applications, 615(2), 1993, pp. 334-338
Long-chain fatty acids can be instantaneously converted into methyl, e
thyl or chloroethyl esters by the action of corresponding alkyl chloro
formates. The reaction is catalysed by pyridine and proceeds in aceton
itrile in the presence of a small amount of the corresponding alcohol.
The reproducibility is high and the yield exceeds 95%.
