Abstract

Visitors to the Uncompahgre National Forest in southwestern Colorado w ere surveyed for both site-specific and general perceptions about live stock grazing on public lands. Results describe the occurrence of both positive and negative impacts, acceptable and unacceptable types of e ncounters, and differing levels of opposition and support for cattle g razing. Eleven grazing sub-issues are validated and implications for m anagers discussed.
