The cascades of ideal invariants in the flute-mode turbulence are anal
yzed by considering a statistics based on an elementary three-mode cou
pling process. The statistical dynamics of the system is investigated
on the basis of the existence of the physically most important (PMI) t
riad. When finite ion Larmor radius effects are considered, the PMI tr
iad describes the formation of zonal flows.
