We studied the hydrogen-bond-length dependence of the asymmetric term
in the hydrogen potential by the numerical calculation, and explained
some isotope effects such as the Ubbelohde effect which was generally
observed in various hydrogen bonded compounds. Furthermore, we observe
d the hydrogen excitation spectra as well as the Q-maps of the neutron
scattering function of short hydrogen-bonded compounds with incoheren
t neutron scattering experiments, and extracted the shapes of the hydr
ogen wave functions from these data. The extracted shapes were compare
d with the calculated ones derived from the proposed hydrogen potentia
l.
