Abstract

Reaction of ((Pr2NP)-Pr-i)(2)COFe2(CO)(6) with aniline in boiling hexa ne results in addition of aniline to the ((Pr2NP)-Pr-i)(2)Fe-2(CO)(6) unit to give yellow ((i)Pr(2)NPNHPh)((Pr2NPH)-Pr-i)Fe-2(CO)(6), shown by X-ray diffraction to have a syn orientation of the two (Pr2N)-Pr-i groups. However, the (XPN(i)Pr(2))((Pr2NPH)-Pr-i)Fe-2(CO)(6) adducts ( X = Cl, OEt, OCH(2)SiMe(3)) of ((Pr2NP)-Pr-i)(2)Fe-2(CO)6 with HCl and ROH (R = Et, CH(2)SiMe(3)) respectively, are shown by X-ray diffracti on to have an anti orientation of the two (Pr2N)-Pr-i groups.
