Abstract
A linear, rigid molecular diad constituted of an electron donor (triar ylamine, D) linked to a chromophore [Ru-bis(terpyridine), S] is synthe sized; upon anchoring onto a nanocrystalline TiO2 electrodes this prod uces a charge-separated state D+-S \(e-) TiO2 under illumination decay ing with: k = 7 X 10(7) s(-1) (70%), 3 X 10(5) s(-1) (20%) and 4 x 10( 3) s(-1) (10%) and yielding a photochromic effect at positive polariza tion.
