The interaction second virial coefficients of the mixtures Ar/CO, Ar/N
-2, Ar/O-2, Ne/CO, Ne/N-2, and Ne/O-2 were measured from 296 K to 463
K, utilizing the expansion method and the temperature changing method.
Improvements in the previously described apparatuses reduced systemat
ical errors and provided more accurate measurements of the coefficient
s. The experimental data were compared to calculations of interaction
second virial coefficients based on modern potential energy surfaces.
None of the previously reported potential energy surfaces was sufficie
nt to account for the measured interaction second virial coefficients
over our experimental temperature range from 296 K to 463 K.
