Abstract
The application of systematic approaches to the management of treatmen t-resistant depression has become increasingly important as the number of available therapeutic options for mood disorders has grown. The as sessment of adequacy of prior treatment, strategies for augmentation o f failed antidepressant trials, the role of monoamine oxidase inhibito rs, and oi-her aspects of a logical and scientifically informed treatm ent algorithm approach are reviewed.
