A. Puntener, THE INFLUENCE OF FATLIQUORS ON THE LIGHTFASTNESS OF DYED LEATHER, The Journal of the American Leather Chemists Association, 91(5), 1996, pp. 126-135
Process and product parameters were evaluated to determine their effec
t on lightfastness of leather articles. The influence of fatliquors on
the color fading of dyed leather depends on various factors. The comp
osition of the fatliquors is only partly responsible for lightfastness
properties. Tanning and dyeing agents also influence the color. A kno
wledge of the chemical and physical reactions resulting from exposure
to light is necessary. Light stabilizers can greatly improve the prope
rties of a leather article. Several experiments and recommendations fo
r improving lightfastness are discussed in this paper.
