Abstract
cine-Substitution of 1-methyl-3,6,8-trinitro-2-quinolone by 1,3-dicarb onyl compounds in the presence of NEt(3) occurred efficiently, affordi ng 4-functionalized 6,8-dinitro-2-quinolone derivatives. The addition intermediate was isolated in the reaction with CH2(CO(2)Et)(2) and EtO Na. Conversion of the isolated intermediate into the cine-substituted product was performed. These results indicate that the present cine-su bstitution proceeds by the addition-elimination mechanism.
