Abstract
A new synthetic method for the preparation of beta-ketophosphonates st arting either from azoalkenes and PCl3 or from ketone hydrazones and P Cl5 is reported. The reaction involves the addition of alcohols to a d iazaphosphole intermediate. This synthesis allows the preparation of t he until now unknown beta-ketophosphonates of aromatic alcohols.
