Abstract
We conducted a ''pre-pilot'' quadrat sampling study to evaluate the fe asibility of a region-wide monitoring program to estimate changes in t he density of Mexican spotted owls (Strix occidentalis lucida). Based upon capture probability abundance, and density estimates, we believe the proposed monitoring program to be feasible given the survey protoc ol provided. We discuss several recommendations for the implementation of the monitoring program.
