Ac. Hartford et Al. Zietman, PROSTATE-CANCER - WHO IS BEST BENEFITED BY EXTERNAL-BEAM RADIATION-THERAPY, Hematology/oncology clinics of North America, 10(3), 1996, pp. 595
The major indications for radical radiation therapy of prostate cancer
for both early-stage and locally advanced disease are discussed. Impo
rtant issues in the interpretation of long-term treatment series are r
eviewed. The outcomes of therapy are analyzed for both early-stage and
locally advanced disease, including alternative therapeutic strategie
s. On the basis of this review of the literature, current treatment re
commendations delineate patients most likely to benefit from radiation
therapy as opposed to alternative therapeutic modalities.
