R. Hoffmann et al., DISTRIBUTION OF PROTEIN-KINASE-C ISOENZYMES IN DIFFERENT CELLS OF THEHUMAN HAIR FOLLICLE, EJD. European journal of dermatology, 6(4), 1996, pp. 295-296
The formation, shedding and regulated growth of pigmented hair shafts
results from a tightly controlled interaction of epithelial, mesenchym
al and neuroectodermal cells. Soluble mediators such as growth factors
or cytokines [1], acting in an auto- or paracrine fashion, and marker
s of final keratinocyte differentiation such as transglutaminase [2] o
r versican [3] are most likely involved during this process, An increa
sing body of evidence has been accumulated regarding these factors, bu
t knowledge about intracellular signaling within the hair follicle is
still limited.
