In the present study, 0.4Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3 - 0.3Pb(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O-3 - 0.
3PbTiO(3) ceramics modified with MnO2(0.05 similar to 1 wt%) were fabr
icated, and the influence of MnO2 addition on the microstructure, diel
ectric and pyroelectric properties of the ceramics are investigated by
changing additive amounts and sintering temperature. The stability of
perovskite was studied as a function of sintering temperature. The di
electric and pyroelectric coefficient decreased considerably with the
addition of 0.05 to 0.1wt%MnO2. The dissipation factor was lowered by
adding small amounts of MnO2, with 0.3 wt%MnO2 giving the lowest dissi
pation factor. The MnO2 addition improved the pyroelectric figure of m
erit.
