Abstract
Bupivacaine 0.25% encapsulated by multilamellar liposomes was administ ered epidurally to a patient suffering pain associated with lung cance r and the effect compared with a plain bupivacaine solution of the sam e concentration. Complete analgesia was produced for 4h with the plain solution and 11h with the liposomal formulation. No motor blockade or haemodynamic instability was observed with the liposome-associated bu pivacaine.
