We present rigorous calculations for the long-range intensity correlat
ions in multiple wave scattering from a disordered medium. General rel
ations are derived beyond the Born approximation for both the scatteri
ng amplitude and the Hikami vertex. The correlations between reflectio
n and transmission coefficients are analyzed for a thick slab within t
he framework of the diffusion approximation. Besides the coherent cont
ribution to the correlation function, the incoherent one is considered
in detail. Conditions are discussed under which the incoherent contri
bution becomes particularly prominent.
