Information on the life histories and larval feeding habits of four Ne
arctic species of Tetanocera that prey on snails belonging to the pulm
onate snail family Succineidae are presented. The four species are qui
te prey-specific, as larvae of Tetanocera melanostigma Steyskal prey o
n species of Succinea, those of T. oxia Steyskal and T, spirifera Mela
nder attack snails of the genus Catinella, and larvae of T. rotundicor
nis Loew are associated with the genus Oxyloma. All four species are m
ultivoltine and occur in marshy or swampy habitats containing large po
pulations of succineid snails.
