Pb. Siegel et al., DECOMPOSING SOURCES OF REGIONAL GROWTH WITH AN INPUT-OUTPUT MODEL - AFRAMEWORK FOR POLICY ANALYSIS, International regional science review, 18(3), 1995, pp. 331-353
Decomposition of an extended input-output model can provide insights i
nto the relationship between a region's changing economic structure an
d its performance. Standard decomposition techniques are augmented and
adapted to generate a conceptual framework fur identifying potential
sources of regional growth and subsequent impacts of alternative devel
opment strategies. The conceptual framework is a heuristic device that
also can be used for applied policy analysis. As such, this paper pro
vides a foundation for more elaborate empirical studies in the future.
