Thermogravimetry is used to study the adsorption of m-xylene on NaY, K
Y and BaY zeolites. The aim of this work is to take into account the t
emperature as a fundamental parameter in the control of isobaric or is
othermal adsorption. The results are analysed using Henry, Langmuir, F
owler and Polanyi-Dubinin models. The adsorption of m-xylene is little
different.from that of p-xylene. The affinity of adsorption depends u
pon the nature of the compensator cation and the temperature. At low f
illing coefficient, the BaY zeolite shows a greater affinity for the x
ylenes than the other two zeolites and the NaY zeolite adsorbs more m-
xylene than p-xylene inversely as the KY and BaY zeolites. The adsorpt
ion of xylenes is not restricted to the available volume of cages alph
a but extends, from low relative pressure, to the external surface of
the zeolite.
