Abstract
Many recent alluvial deposits of the Altiplano contain detritic gold. Part of this gold comes from the erosion of well-known primary gold qu artz veins contained in the Ordovician outcrops. However, detailed stu dy of the morphology and composition of the detrital gold grains of th ese placers indicated the presence of gold particles in Miocene ignimb rites in this region.
