A new procedure for the allylation of aldehydes with allyltributyltin
in the presence of 10 mol% dibutyltin dichloride and either an acid ch
loride or trimethylsilyl chloride has been developed. Homoallylic este
rs, carbonates, trimethylsilyl ethers, and alcohols were obtained in u
p to 99% yield. (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
