Abstract
Reliability methods for probability evaluation of structural failure i nvolve the solution of an optimization problem. In the present paper t his optimization problem is examined in its application to reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Current methods are presented and their effi ciency and robustness compared through numerical examples. They are sh own to lack stable convergence, and a new highly robust method is prop osed.
