Abstract
Sloshing dynamics within a partially filled rotating dewar of superflu id helium II are investigated in response to lateral impulse. The stud y, including how the rotating bubble of superfluid helium II reacts to the impulse in microgravity, how amplitudes of bubble mass center flu ctuate with growth and decay of disturbances, how slosh reaction force s amplify and decay in response to lateral impulse, and how sloshing d ynamics differ with and without a baffle, are investigated. The numeri cal computation of sloshing dynamics is based on the non-inertial fram e dewar bound coordinate. Results of the studies are illustrated. Copy right (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
