In this work the multiply-differential cross section for electron-impa
ct ionization is considered. A coplanar, equal-energy, fixed-relative
angle kinematics is chosen and the particular case where the scattered
and ionized electrons emerge perpendicular to each other is emphasize
d. It is shown how new structures arise in the spin non-resolved cross
sections due to an interplay between single-binary collisions and the
ratio of singlet to tripler scattering. We deduce that the angular be
haviour of these structures in the spin non-resolved cross sections gi
ves a direct hint as to the spin states occupied by the escaping elect
rons.
