Two cases of Papillon-Lefevre syndrome are reported. Both patients wer
e girls whose parents were first-degree cousins. Ages were nine and 14
years. Papillon-Lefevre syndrome is characterized by Meleda-type palm
oplantar keratoderma and severe lysis of the alveolar ridge with shedd
ing of the permanent teeth. Emphasis is put on the severity of the den
tal prognosis and on the efficacy of retionoids on the cutaneous and d
ental lesions.
