Abstract
The effect of Cu addition to the three-component Nd-Fe-B sintered perm anent magnet on the phase structure, magnetic properties. and corrosio n behaviour is analyzed. It is found that this addition changes the co mposition of the grain-boundary Nd-rich phase to NdCu2. NdFe, and eute ctic phases. The latter two phases deteriorate the hard magnetic prope rties due to a decrease of isolation and decoupling of the Nd2Fe14B gr ains and a decrease of the volume fraction of the hard magnetic Nd2Fe1 4B phase. The corrosion resistance of the Nd-Fe-B magnet in acid solut ion and under conditions corresponding to the industrial atmosphere is improved by addition of this element.
