Aa. Doinikov et St. Zavtrak, ON THE BUBBLE GRAPES INDUCED BY A SOUND FIELD, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 99(6), 1996, pp. 3849-3850
A suggestion is advanced that the stable bubble clusters observed by M
arston et al. [Bubble Dynamics ann Interface Phenomena, edited by J. R
. Blake et al. (Kluwer Academic, Dordrecht, 1994),pp. 343-353] in an u
ltrasonic field are due to the radiative interaction forces of the bub
bles, which change from attraction to repulsion when the distances bet
ween the bubbles become comparable with their sizes. This reversal is
predicted by a theory developed in a previous paper by the authors [Ph
ys. Fluids 7, 1923-1930 (1995)]. (C) 1996 Acoustical Society of Americ
