Three cases of large villous tumors of the second part of the duodenum
treated by pancreaticoduodenectomy are reported. These lesions are in
frequent and premalignant. Their treatment can be either local, endos
copic or surgical, or radical. The malignancy of the tumors is often m
issed preoperatively. The frequent recurrence after local excision and
the theoretical risk of lymph node invasion even for carcinoma in sit
u compared with the low operative risk of whipple's procedure in the a
uthors' experience lead them to propose radical treatment for extensiv
e villous tumors of the second part of the duodenum.
