The interaction of ultra-high-energy (UHE) cosmic rays with baryonic m
atter in the Milky Way produces hadrons which ultimately decay into ne
utrinos. This constitutes a back-ground for neutrino telescopes attemp
ting to discover UHE neutrino point sources in the sky. We give an est
imate of this background. If there exists a galactic halo of baryonic
dark matter, one may be able to use the technique of registering the g
alactic neutrino background to determine its distribution.
