U. Thumm et al., RELATIVISTIC EFFECTS IN SPIN-POLARIZATION PARAMETERS FOR LOW-ENERGY ELECTRON-CS SCATTERING, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 26(9), 1993, pp. 1587-1598
Based on a recent Dirac R-matrix (close-coupling) calculation, we pres
ent results for various spin-polarization parameters for elastic and i
nelastic scattering of slow (E(kin) less than or similar to 2 eV) pola
rized electrons from unpolarized and polarized neutral Cs atoms in the
ir ground state. Our results allow for a quantitative estimate of the
importance of relativistic effects, and our calculated parameters clea
rly deviate from predictions obtained by just jj-recoupling the result
s of a non-relativistic calculation.
