Y. Takii et al., AN ALPHA-GLUCOSIDASE SPECIFIC FOR ALPHA-1,4-LINKAGES PRODUCED FROM BACILLUS SP MIB010, Biotechnology and applied biochemistry, 23, 1996, pp. 243-244
A thermophile producing large amounts of maltosaccharide-hydrolysing e
nzyme was isolated from soil. The isolate (MIB010) that grew from 45 t
o 65 degrees C and at pH 6.5-8.9 was identified as a strain of Bacillu
s. Its hydrolysing activity towards maltose was stable for 10 min up t
o 65 degrees C. This enzyme hydrolysed maltotriose and maltotetraose,
but was inactive against isomaltose and isomaltotriose.
