Abstract
We examine the possibility that strong gamma ray flares from nearby fl are stars may contribute to the faint BATSE (Burst and Transient Sourc es Experiment on the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory) triggers. BATSE lo gN - logC distribution limits the fraction of events that can be due t o flares and the flare luminosity function and space density. New anis otropy limits on the residual nonflare events are obtained and several concrete steps to test this hypothesis are discussed.
