We examine the possibility that strong gamma ray flares from nearby fl
are stars may contribute to the faint BATSE (Burst and Transient Sourc
es Experiment on the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory) triggers. BATSE lo
gN - logC distribution limits the fraction of events that can be due t
o flares and the flare luminosity function and space density. New anis
otropy limits on the residual nonflare events are obtained and several
concrete steps to test this hypothesis are discussed.
