Calculations have been performed for inelastic electron scattering fro
m He-4 within the framework of the recoil-corrected continuum shell mo
del. Comparisons are made to data ranging from q near zero to q=650 Me
V/c. Both inclusive and exclusive processes have been investigated. Th
e effect of meson exchange currents, spin-channel coupling, p-n channe
l coupling, relativistic corrections, and final state interactions are
investigated. Agreement with data is generally good; however, the cal
culated inclusive transverse response is too small in the region of lo
w energy transfer. This reduced strength is related to the lack of cur
rent conservation in the model.
