Abstract
In rat adipocytes, phorbol ester-induced activation of PKC did not inh ibit insulin signalling through IRS-1-dependent phosphatidylinositol ( PI) 3-kinase activation, Moreover, phorbol esters alone provoked an in crease in membrane PI 3-kinase activity, These findings may be relevan t to the failure of phorbol esters to inhibit insulin effects on gluco se transport and glycogen synthesis in rat adipocytes.
