Abstract
We discuss the coercive behaviour of systems with fourfold symmetry, I n agreement with recent experiments, in simulation studies we found a two step process with two coercive fields for the x and the y magnetiz ations, A new physical picture for the spin reversal is obtained. Dipo lar effects are found to be very important. (C) 1996 American Institut e of Physics.
