I. Boulanouar et al., ULTRAFILTRATION AND REVERSE-OSMOSIS IN UNSTIRRED BATCH CELL OF CHARGED SOLUTES (PROTEIN, SALTS) WITH TOTAL RETENTION, Desalination, 104(1-2), 1996, pp. 83-93
Unlike non-charged macromoles, the general unsteady state convection-d
iffusion equations associated with the osmotic theory do not allow acc
urate prediction of the ultrafiltration or reverse osmosis in unstirre
d batch cell of charged solutes. According to the results obtained wit
h total retention of bovine serum albumin, we postulate a modification
of the physicochemical environment of the solute in the boundary laye
r like the osmotic pressure. However, for reach solute a new set of os
motic pressure data allows to simulate accurately all the experiments
performed with alike concentration profiles.
