Abstract
A bibliographic review of the incidence of gastric lesions in foals is given. Clinical signs, that could be associated with gastric lesions are presented, followed by a literature summery of the age-related cha racteristics of the foals stomach and the aetiopathogenesis of the les ions. Generally, gastric lesions in foals can be oi significant releva nce. Prophylactic use of a breeding-programm adjusted to the foal's ne eds might be of importance.
