Abstract
Two new kinds of polymer, copolymer P-1-2 and homopolymer P-3, contain ing norbornadiene and carbazole pendants were synthesized. The photoin duced valence isomerizations of norbornadiene to quadricyclane in poly mer P-1-2 and P-3 were achieved by irradiation of visible light (wavel ength, greater than 350 nm) and an electron transfer mechanism was pro posed. The back isomerization from quadricyclane to norbornadiene was also carried out for the polymer systems.
