A new preparation method for the Pt/(Ta2O5+Pt) coated titanium electro
de has been proposed to protect Ti substrate against a significant cor
rosion. The electrode was fabricated by a combination of partial therm
al decomposition and electrolytic reduction of Pt(NO2)(2)(NH3)(2), and
by thermal decomposition of Ta(OC2H6)(6). The electrode made in this
way is featured by such an innovated three-layered structure made up o
f Ti substrate, interlayer consisting of amorphous Ta2O5 and Pt, and u
pperlayer of Pt. The electrode had a high conductivity and durability
caused by the interlayer and was excellent in stability during anodic
oxygen evolution in sulfuric acid solution.
