The recent development of network analyzers has allowed electromagneti
c property studies in perovskite-type ferroelectric materials in a lar
ge frequency range (similar to 10(2)-10(10)Hz). A high frequency (simi
lar to 10(7)-10(10)Hz) relaxation has been evidenced. The origin of th
e relaxation process has been determined: it is an intrinsic mechanism
directly related to the crystal lattice. In the light of the obtained
results, physical-chemistry laws can be used to modulate the relaxati
on frequency using appropriate ionic substitutions.
