Abstract
This article maps the development of strategic thinking since the 1960 s and identifies an emerging perspective on strategy as 'practice'. Th e practice perspective on strategy focuses on strategists and strategi zing, rather than organizations and strategies. Implications for pract itioners, teachers and researchers are developed.
