Abstract
We discuss three different types of experiments that provide direct ev idence that the ground state of the DX center is neutral, thus demonst rating that this center cannot be a negatively charged isolated donor. The evidence is based on the magnitude of the electron-capture cross section, the sensitivity of electron emission on the electric field, a nd the modification in the universal conductance fluctuations of a mes ocopic system induced by ionizing DX centers.
