Abstract
To identify the form of the C-terminal amino acid of a sea anemone tox in, the native protein was compared with two synthetic proteins compri sing the same sequence and a free or an amide C-terminal form. Using e lectrospray ionization-mass spectrometry, capillary electrophoresis an d the coupling of both techniques, we assigned the C-terminus of the n ative protein to be in the free carboxyl form.
