A. Zaslavsky et al., OBSERVATION OF VALENCE-BAND LANDAU-LEVEL MIXING BY RESONANT MAGNETOTUNNELING, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 47(23), 1993, pp. 16036-16039
In magnetotunneling I(V,B(parallel-to)) measurements on strained p-typ
e Si/Si1-xGex, double-barrier resonant tunneling structures we observe
heavy-hole satellite peaks that correspond to tunneling with DELTAn =
1 and 2 changes in the Landau index n. The relative intensity of the
satellite peaks excludes scattering as a possible mechanism. We ascrib
e the DELTAn = 1,2 satellites to elastic tunneling made possible by La
ndau-level mixing in the valence band predicted by the Luttinger Hamil
tonian in a magnetic field. The satellite peak spacing yields the vale
nce-band Landau-level structure in strained Si1-xGex quantum wells.
