Abstract
Spinel type of LiV2O4 was prepared under controlled partial pressure o f oxygen at 650 degrees C-950 degrees C. X-ray diffraction and electro chemical studies were carried out using Li/Li-1+x V2O4 cells. The samp les obtained at lower temperatures showed larger capacity than those o btained at higher temperatures. The cell capacity at the 800th cycle w as more than 70% of the initial capacity. Small volume change (1.8%) f rom LiV2O4 (spinel type) to Li2V2O4 (atacamite type) contributed to su ch long cycle life.
